LIQUID CHESS

A new painting. Been playing a lot of chess lately. I was really good at it when I was a kid, but I'm terrible now. It's entertainingly frustrating.

R.I.P. STAN AND JACK

On the day of Stan Lee's death, I wanted to do a memorial. I have mixed feelings about Stan, so I wanted to make sure to also acknowledge on of the visual artists of Marvel Comics. Namely, THE artist of Marvel comics. Here's to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, founders of my favorite alternate universe, gods of Marvel.

DRAWLLOWEEN 2018

Haven't really been posting much art this month. Working on Drawlloween, doing a picture every day based on Gus Fink's list of prompts. Here's the last three, to show what I've been up to lately. The prompts were: generic wizard, boombox ghost and stitch kittens

LIVE RPG ON THE RADIO, AND MORE SPERBLE ISSUE FOUR PREVIEWS

The two pictures above this are for a new pen and paper role playing game I'm running. This one is actually a live on air radio broadcast, going out on my radio show on KVMRX (105.7 FM). The show is called Dead Air, and we'll probably squeeze in a live role playing session once a month, along with my regular musical blocks.

These two are more preview panels from the coming issue of Sperble Elite. Having my regular difficulty with the digital editing process, but it should be done soon!

L'ORC THE ELF

A piece of Glass Cannon fan art I did. It was for a contest, but I didn't finish it in time. Still, figured it was worth sharing. This is L'Orc Irontusk in Elf form.

NEW WORK: 4 PAINTINGS

I had an art show this weekend. For the show I managed to display all new artwork. I'm really pretty proud of this output, especially having recently started a new job. These are four of those new pieces.

.
 Title: Fishing

 Title: Half Mask
I was Richard Harrow from Boardwalk Empire for Halloween last year. I had this half mask of my own face laying around, and wanted to do something with it. After I saw the David Lynch Art documentary, I got excited about incorporating it into a piece. I like the result, but I know it's pretty grotesque.

A commission by my friend Justin.

RPG STUFF

Two Pictures for a new pen and paper RPG I've been playing in my brother's Masque Monarchy world.  The first is Cameron Talgrave, minstrel mage played by my buddy Danny. The second is Skeeves Whitecrow played by my friend Jake. Fun stuff.
Started a new day job and plugging away on Sperble Elite Issue 5, but here's two new pictures. One is for the zine I'm making for said art show, the other is a quick Sperble Sketch I liked.

I made this picture for a contest put on by The Glass Cannon, a podcast I listen to. The contest was to design one of the characters, Fairaza. Here's a link to vote on the contest, or just to see the awesome art that was entered all around

BUILDING A FENGUS

I'm always saying that I don't make 3d art, but there is one exception. Every year for our annual desert camping trip we make a Fengus and burn him. Normally my friend Zach takes care of it, but when he can't I pick up the slack. This is a fast motion video of me rigging up a Fengus head for camping this year.

THE FORGOTTEN WEEK

A week comic I'd totally forgotten about! Didn't end up in my collection I had printed. Well, one to start the next volume I guess.

DESERT AND MACARTHUR

This first one is a picture from our annual Black Rock Desert camping Trip. Love the pose and the angle of the shot. I actually painted this on the label for my bristol board. Turns out every pack comes with an extra sheet of good material ovesized paper!

This was actually a picture I started more then five years ago and didnt' finish. Found it recently and wrapped it up. I don't even have the original photo anymore, so I just winged it. I used to be so uptight with my work, I'm so much more productive now that I can be looser and willing to work with what I've got.

RAISE THE REX!

I completed this painting a while ago, then totally forgot it existed. Found it behind a stack of comic books, such a pleasant surprise!

RICHARD HARROW OR... ME?!

A self portrait. This one was shaped off a mask I wore to be  Boardwalk Empire character Richard Harrow a couple years ago. Maybe my favorite character... ever? Anyways, I shaped that mask into a whole self portrait, and it was was one of my most difficult pictures ever. I always want to expand into multimedia but the effort to make it really work is so insane... anyways. Like how this pic turned out.

FENGUS, BEANJAYS, JESTER

Two recent pictures. The first is Fengus and his evil doppelganger Beanjays. I've been working on trying to get Beanjays to catch on. So far there's been pretty strong resistance, but I'll force this shitty character down everyone's throat.

The second picture is for my brother's birthday flyer.

TARANTULA, ART SHOW

I've been bad about posting, but I have been quite busy with art lately. This first picture is from a one page comic I'm making. I was really blown away by how good this tarantula turned out...
...So I decided to make it a painting for an upcoming pop up show. I made the painting on a scrap piece of plywood in one day. I think it came out really well. People really liked the pastel background. I'm thinking of doing a series of these. They're really easy and people like them. Plus, I've got a ton of scrap plywood.
This one sold at the show. Here's a pick of my work hanging:
